A Romantic Holiday in Sardinia
For those who want to get away from the heat of the city and enjoy a summer at the sea in total relaxation, Chia Laguna Resort on the Italian island Sardinia is the ideal place to spend the holidays.
Summer is coming and the hot season is on its way. Many travellers from all over Europe and the world choose Italy as a destination, attracted by the art and Italian food. For those who want to get away from the heat of the city and enjoy a summer at sea and in total relaxation, the Italian island Sardinia is the ideal place to spend their holidays. No wonder that Sardinia remains in the hearts of many tourists who, impressed by the beauty of the land of the Nuraghes during their first trip, want to come back, because it’s a never-ending discovery.
An island of mystery
Sardinia is an island of mystery indeed: a very ancient land, rich in culture and traditions. Even today you can find many festivals and fairs, where the population does not treat you as guests but as friends. Between the tasting of a typical dish and a nice glass of wine, you can find the time to visit the Nuraghes (stone megaliths from the Bronze Age, the II millennium BC), such as the Nuraghe Arrubiu Orroli in the south of Sardinia, the largest of the whole island.
Sardinia is also known as the land of centenarians: the Sardinian longevity is one of the many secrets of this island. Sardinians, in fact, are considered one of the longest-living people in the world. According to some researchers, this is because of their genuine and healthy lifestyle.
Here the inhabitants breathe fresh and pristine air due to its proximity to the sea and little pollution, a healthy diet based on local produce, accompanied by a nice glass of wine (rich in antioxidants). It is probably thanks to this lifestyle that Mr. Antonio Todde reached the ripe age of 113 years, making him enter the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest man in the world and keep the record for some years!
Hospitality, kindness and the most beautiful coastline
The island is a land of wilderness, but the inhabitants, apparently closed in their nature, are much admired for their hospitality and kindness. Sardinians enjoy being in company and are always ready to put vacationers at ease and have fun with them. And this special welcome is talked about and highlighted by Paul Valery in his book “Journey in Sardinia,” where he describes one of the most important celebrations, the festival of Ephisius in Cagliari.
And it’s right near Cagliari where you can find one of the most beautiful coastlines in Sardinia, Chia, with its white sandy beaches and shallow waters, and those of Su Giudeu, Capo Malfatano, Campana, Sa Colonia, and S’Acqua Durci. Here you can visit the famous Tower of Chia, built in 1600 to spot enemies coming from the sea.
Where to stay in Sardinia
In this beautiful part of Sardinia you will find Chia Laguna Resort, a hotel complex divided into 4 facilities: the hotel Village, the Spazio Oasi, the Hotel Laguna and the Baia open to all, young people and families with children. The property is completely surrounded by nature and among its lush gardens you can admire numerous species of plants, including juniper trees and typical Mediterranean vegetation.
Another attraction of this fascinating destination is the famous pink flamingos of the lagoon of Chia, and the Sardinian deer of Monte Arcosu, a protected WWF oasis. With the arrival of summer the desire to spend a holiday, or just a weekend away from the daily routine in a fun but also romantic location, is felt more and more.

Very romantic place…
I think so too.
Sorry, I’m getting over here so late! I tell ya what, if I was going to make it to 100 years old I would certainly put this place at the top of my list to do it at! I fell in love with Sardinia on the movie screen from the James Bond movie The Spy Who Loved Me. Great post, Mette! :)
You’ve got a point Mike. Maybe natural beauty affects longevity in a positive way.
Beautiful photos! Looks like there’s lots to do and see, and being able to live beyond 100 is good enough of a reason already! Thanks for sharing!
Yes, it really looks and sounds like the stuff dreams are made of.
We were in Sardinia a few years ago, from Alghero and to the northernmost points, so the south of the island is still on my future travel wish list. Sounds lovely.
Yes. It’s just a pity Sardinia is harder to reach than most other destinations in Italy.
Looks like a wonderful place to stay for a week. I’ve had Sardinia in my sights for a very long time.
I’m sure it’s a good place to hike too. When the the sun and the heat makes exercise tolerable.
I can feel the sun on my shoulders, squint from the sunlight dancing across the water and smell amazing aromas coming from the kitchen just reading this post Mette. Certainly makes me want to explore all the hidden treasures there.
Your version is definitely sheer poetry, Maria.
Sardinia looks absolutely gorgeous and the Chia Laguna Resort looks like a very beautiful romantic place
I agree.
The photos are gorgeous and Sardinia sounds like a lovely place to visit for a few days!
Agreed.
Sardinia looks so gorgeous and a perfect place for a romantic break – I might leave this page open on my husband’s computer to drop some hints! :-D
Good idea. Let me know if it works:)
Wow, what a beautiful place! It seems that for Americans Sardinia barely enters the picture of “places to vacation in Italy.” Somehow people here are just not real familiar with it. I did not know about the longevity. Interesting, indeed!
That’s strange, as Sardegna is extremely popular among Italian and European tourists. Especially, those who are willing and able to pay for a little extra luxury.
