Orange Custard Cream
Crema con succo di arancia
This orange custard is a traditional crema inglese that can be used as filling in baked cakes or served with biscuits, cookies, bigne or chestnut bread. But it can also be served as a dessert in its own right like creme caramel or lemon cream custard. If you want to serve the orange custard cream as a proper dessert for 4 persons, you should double the quantities.
Ingredients
1 egg
1 tbsp wheat flour
80 g powdered sugar
3 oranges – juice and peel
Preparation
Mix flour and sugar with egg in a steel casserole and heat the mixture over low heat while stirring continuously until it starts to thicken
Grate the zest of the oranges and squeeze out the juice
Stir the orange juice in the cream gradually
Remove from heat, mix with grated orange zest and leave the orange custard cream to cool before serving.

I’m sure you can take it.
This looks divine! Thank you for sharing with us. Yummy xo
My pleasure:)
I think your website is going to be dangerous for my waiste line! Oh well, can’t be helped. :-D
As desserts go, you could argue that orange custard cream is very low-fat. And almost healthy with all the natural fruit juice.
How many servings does this make?
My recipes generally serve 4 as a full course, but with these measures it does not add up. Probably because I’ve served the orange custard cream with a chocolate cake. In other words: if you want to serve 4 and they are only having orange custard cream for dessert you should double the quantities. Thanks for the question. I’ll make sure it is pointed out in the text.
Hello ! Made this and used it as a combo with a scoops of ice cream ( black raspberry , and Haagen~ Daz coconut and pineapple, with banana slices and drizzled it over the top …. NICE not to sweet , and not chilled enough to be cold. I can see how it could be used many ways.
Thanx, ;oP
What a delicious sounding combo, and a great inspiration. Thanks for sharing.
