Immersed in luxury in Villa d’Amelia

Immersed in luxury in Villa d’Amelia

Picture yourself in a luxury suite overlooking the hills of Barolo. With a wine chapel in the court yard, emotional showers in the wellness area and a Michelin starred restaurant serving gourmet dinners. That’s Relais Villa d’Amelia.

Relais Villa d’Amelia in the countryside near Benevello 13 km south west of Alba is the sort of hotel that makes you feel instantly at home. And instantly rich. The rooms are tasteful and comfortable. The view is postcard perfect. And there are lots of hang around facilities like the lounge and the courtyard.

On velvety, warm nights you can sit outside and gaze at a zillion stars with a cool drink in your hand. Or you can read a novel and sip hot tea from the depth of a cushy armchair. Villa d’Amelia feels good. And we did not even try the wellness area with massage, pool and a mysterious emotional shower of light and music.

Gourmet dinners and breakfasts

In addition the restaurant in Villa d’Amelia serves contemporary Italian gastronomy under the auspices of chef Damiano Nigro. We had a rustic menu of beans, cauliflower flan in cheese sauce, ‘plin’ ravioli, slow roasted beef and hazelnut tiramisu served with local wines.

In the morning, the restaurant chef had composed one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve ever had included in the room rates. The breakfast buffet offered a choice of four of everything – four types of fresh fruit, four types of cake, four kinds of bread, four cheeses, four cereals, four warm, egg-based dishes, etc. And you could even have a glass of champagne instead of the ordinary breakfast juice, if you were so inclined.

Taste the beauty

After a good night’s rest and a proper meal you are all set to explore the vineyard landscape and the Barolo villages that have been awarded UNESCO World Heritage status. There is a lot of beauty to see, wines to sip and delicacies to sample along with the obvious attractions of Alba and other towns in the area, that you will be wanting to extend your stay to infinity.

Our stay at Villa d’Amelia was sponsored by the Gal Langhe Roero Leader and by ATL Langhe and Roero, but opinions are as always my own.
