Chocolate marzipan cake
with no added sugar
This Italian chocolate marzipan cake has no added sugar except for the dusting on top, which makes it so very special, it just has to be tried. The cake has an intense chocolate flavour. And anyone with a healthy craving for chocolate will love it.
200 g chocolate of at least 70% cocoa
1 tbsp cocoa
200 g marzipan
80 g butter
60 g flour
1 tsp baking powder
Powdered sugar for dusting.
Gradually incorporate the eggs into the marzipan and mix it through with an electric mixer.
Melt chocolate and butter over a water bath.
Stir flour, cocoa and baking powder into the egg and marzipan mixture.
Add melted butter and chocolate and mix well.
Pour the batter into a greased ovenproof pan.
Bake at 180 C / 350 F for 20 minutes.
Allow the chocolate marzipan cake to cool, before you dust it with powdered sugar.
